When Hope is Gone, Praise the Lord

This morning was a rough one.  The days have been that way a lot more lately.  Not a total depression as I have battled before, but just a deep blah and sadness that makes me want to cry for no apparent reason.  I remind myself that I have worked too hard and God has brought me too far to dwell in the sadness. But still it returns over and over this past week. But God always brings hope and joy and peace.
One of my favorite passages is Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.  He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."  I find comfort in picturing myself with my head in Jesus' lap as we sit in green, green grass next to a calm brook.  He runs His hands through my hair and comforts me as I cry and His presence alone brings peace.
This morning God so graciously used KLOVE's Encouraging Word of the day to lift my spirits and restore my life.  Today's verse was Psalm 42:11, "Why am I discouraged?  Why is my heart so sad?  I will put my hope in God!  I will praise Him again - my Savior and my God!"
And the best thing about life, to me, is music.  God has amazing ways of ministering through it.  I have had the joy of rejoining my church's choir over the past few months under new leadership and I am thrilled about it now.  Our music minister has a complete passion for God and worship.  Exactly what I want when I grow up.  Kim really knows how music can touch a heart and God can use it to change a life and that even we in choir need those reminders for ourselves.  God brought Our God Saves to my heart this morning and even though I sang the words wrong (sometimes I do that), the heart of the message is what brought strength.

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord, we've come

We're gathered together
To lift up Your name
To call on our Savior
To fall on Your grace

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord, we've come

We're gathered together
To lift up Your name
To call on our Savior
To fall on Your grace

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As Your saints bow down, as Your people sing
We will rise with You, lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that

Our God saves, our God saves
There is hope in Your name

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
In the name of the Spirit
Lord, we've come

We're gathered together
To lift up Your name
To call on our Savior
To fall on Your grace

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As Your saints bow down, as Your people sing
We will rise with You, lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that

Our God saves, our God saves
There is hope in Your name

Mourning turns to songs of praise
Our God saves, our God saves

Hear the joyful sound of our offering
As Your saints bow down, as Your people sing
We will rise with You, lifted on Your wings
And the world will see that
Yes, the world will see that

Our God saves, our God saves
There is hope in Your name

Mourning turns to songs of praise
Our God saves, our God saves
Our God saves, our God saves
Our God saves, our God saves
